Roots in Fleischmanns…
Our family has had roots in the Catskills since the 1940’s. Our matriarch, Kitty Leer, arrived in Fleischmanns with her parents as refugees from WW11, where they opened an eatery and bed & breakfast. With an emphasis on good home cooking and warm hospitality, they created a welcoming community for refugees, summer vacationers and locals alike.
Nearly 70 years later, their legacy lives on as we open the Arts Inn to all looking for a home away from home.
The Dream…
Arts Inn began as a dream when the young artists and educators, Randy Leer & Heidi Stonier met in Paris in 1984. Randy was a writer, filmmaker and Montessori teacher. Heidi was a dancer and choreographer. They fell in love, married and worked together in collaboration with other artists to produce films, performance pieces and jazz operas in venues throughout Paris. It was here, in this atmosphere of collaboration and imagination, that the vision of a collective creative space was born.
Then life happened. Heidi became pregnant with their first child and they decided to move back to the United States. She continued to dance and became an educator, focusing her work on science and movement as an integrated expression of the body’s energy. Randy started his own business to support the family. Two more children and thirty years later, the dream of the Arts Inn, as a hub for art, education and community, became a reality.
Our family opens its home in welcome as a place to restore, renew and connect. Arts Inn invites you to share our vision of a haven for the creative spirit.
Offerings
Arts Inn offers a unique b&b and event space experience. Beautifully furnished rooms, outdoor spaces and first floor amenities including music room, game room, library, yoga studio and gift shop are available to guests.
Our space is available for rent for a variety of public and private event purposes. We offer workshops, retreats, live performances, micro-weddings and private events. Come book your stay and share in the joyful community of Arts Inn!
